Today, there are several types of photo printers available. The inkjet photo printers offer photo printing, but are also capable of printing other material. Dedicated photo printers print only on photo paper, and professional photo printers are capable of giving large printouts. Photo printers are better now than ever before, so consider your needs before you choose one. Many printers today can work without a computer and can print directly from a camera.

When buying a printer, you should consider the print resolution, which would be a maximum of 1,200 by 4,800 dpi. Also, you would have to see the sizes of photos you need and choose a printer that could print small as well as reasonably large photos. If you are a black-and-white photographer, look for the color and black-and-white output; you should be satisfied with what you see. Some relatively inexpensive printers with four-color output could offer you prints as good as a more expensive printer could. Also, the prints should be waterproof and long lasting. Before you buy, consider the costs of cartridges, paper, toner, etc. These will have to be bought frequently, so they can add up to quite a bit.

Specifications vary from printer to printer. The Canon Pixma iP6000D InkJet Photo Printer offers you a resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi, and prints at speeds of 11 ppm. The Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition InkJet Photo Printer and Hewlett Packard Photosmart 8450 InkJet Printers are also highly rated, with similar resolution and speed. The Kodak EasyShare 500 Thermal Photo Printer is a thermal transfer printer. The Canon SELPHY CP710 is a Thermal Photo Printer Dye Sublimation Printer, with a color resolution of 300 x 300 dpi. The Samsung SPP-2040 Thermal Photo Printer has a speed of 60 seconds per page. The Olympus Camedia P-400 Printer has a 314 dpi resolution, with 8 bits per color and a 7.68 mega pixel print engine resolution.

There are many more high-quality photo printers available. Look at the websites of the individual companies or watch out for customer reviews. Ask around and you will surely find the one you need.

How do I repair the flash on my HP Photosmart 315 digital camera?

We have had an HP Photosmart 315 digital camera for almost 7 years now. While it is not high tech quality it has always worked well for us. Recently the flash has stopped working. I am sure it needs a new bulb or something of the sort but we aren’t sure how to repair/replace it. Does anyone have any info or guidance on this one? Please don’t say “Buy a new camera”…we would love to but can’t right now.

IF there are parts still available for your camera, you will have to take it to a repair shop to have it installed and tested .. they have both tools and technology.

That said, you can find some very nice cameras that may cost less than it will to repair your seven year old camera.
